How come my dreams predict what happens the next day?

Having a dream, then seeing it come true, seems supernatural. However, many people say they have already experienced it. How does it work and what do scientists say? It is common for the desires of the unconscious to manifest in dreams and then direct our actions so that the dreamed outcome may come true.

dream

Dreams have always fascinated me and I have spent five years of my life to understand their meaning: I have transcribed, interpreted, and observed them. Everyday. Every morning. For five long years.

On the morning of January 14, 2012, I was in Milan and I woke up in anguish. I had dreamed of a sinking ship, I had seen people sliding into the sea and I had heard the screams. It was a clear dream and, when I think about it, I still get chills today, because I try those feelings again.

I tried to interpret the dream. What did it mean? when the unconscious, which weighs 90%, wants to be heard, it uses the best techniques.

I went for breakfast and instinctively turned on the TV. and I never do it. When I have breakfast, I like to taste what I eat and wake up eating. Especially if I have to fly. Which happens often.

When I saw those scenes imprinted on the TV video, I stood motionless for several minutes. I was unable to eat. I burst into tears. Because I had already seen those people die in my dream. Was this a premonitory dream? What does it mean when you dream about something and it happens the next day?

How does a precognitive dream work?

It is normal to dream about what you imagine for the future, even more about problems of the present, so the dream can create a probabilistic oracle. Some habits can amplify this connection because the more it is valued, the more the phenomenon occurs. It is assumed that all dreams can be interpreted, as long as you can remember them well once awake and be able to draw on some secondary but essential details that appeared during our dream experience. Provided that it is possible to recognize (however difficult!)

The study on the unconscious and on dreams is certainly very complex, but at the same time interesting, dreams can often tell us things we have forgotten about our childhood, traumatic experiences that our mind has closed in the unconscious to be able to give us a more serene. Surely the correlation between dream analysis and hypnosis is among the best studies of psychoanalysis, thanks to the discovery of an entity unknown to us which is the unconscious, true matter of dreams.

If sometimes you happen to make dreams manifest even in part, it does not mean that you have made premonitory dreams and that you are able to predict the future, but it is your brain that working free from the pressures and stress of the days waking, is able to develop a possible upcoming scenario, but that is nothing more than a mere possibility.

It’s like when you make a bet, we evaluate the conditions of one team and the other, we try to see where they play, what the weather conditions are, etc … once we think about everything we calculate the result, victory or defeat for the one or the other. In this case, if our accounts are correct and nothing unexpected happens, we have an 80% chance of winning. The same thing applies when we have a dream of the reality in which we live our brain processes a thousand situations in which we could find ourselves, but in the end, it unconsciously shows us through the dream, the situation that comes closest to reality.

Is it possible to see the future in your dreams?

dream

Although perhaps I should start with another question: are there dreams that come to pass or predict the future? Is it possible to guess the events of the coming years through dreams? The question is up in the air because most dream specialists claim no, that there are no real dreams. That dreams are a reflection of our past, our present, and perhaps our longings for the coming times, but not our future itself.

Our rational minds seek an explanation for dream phenomena even though sometimes they are closer to a paranormal event than to nocturnal brain activity. And, therefore, we are always left with the most logical interpretation and the most rational meanings, with those that help us overcome our fears or clarify a little the emotional confusion in which we are living.

Still, some people claim to have foreboding visions of futures or prophetic dream experiences. And we also have to believe it.

How to see the future in dreams?

There is no specific way to see the events ahead in dreams. Either a person has the gifts of choice, or they do not have them. However, there are several ways to increase your intuition to allow your innate talents to surface:

  • Start writing down your dreams every night. The more you write them down, the easier you would remember them.
  • After a few days, you can start to analyze your dreams. Are there recurring themes? Do you have a special sense of urgency attached to a dream?
  • Let your mind go where it wants and try to be guided by your intuition. Often the first impression is the right one.
  • Do not over-analyze situations. Sometimes dreams are just dreams! They tell us as much about us as they do about the world around us.

What is it called when you dream something and then it happens in real life?

When you dream of something the next day, after two weeks, or years to come they come to pass, these are called premonitory or precognitive dreams.

What are premonitory dreams?

A premonitory dream is defined when it makes it possible to predict the future. Some people, medium or not, can sometimes have dreams that reveal all or part of the coming things. These dreams are sometimes very clear, like a photographic image, or they appear in the form of symbols. Deciphering dreams and determining if they are premonitory is a complex discipline, which requires experience. The meaning of the premonitory dream is often unclear and requires a real examination.

What is NOT a premonitory dream

Now, not everything that is considered a premonitory dream is. You can be sure that dreaming about the death of a loved one, for example, is not a premonition. Of course, that person may die, as we all would, but the dream is not an announcement of her death. Not when you dream of death, or when you dream of an accident, or when you dream of illness. These kinds of dreams are not premonitory.

I warn you this because it is very important not to let dreams condition our lives. Dreams must be attended to, they must be listened to, but not literally and they must be interpreted to better understand some aspects of our lives. Dreams can also encourage us to do something, inspire us, or stimulate us to find the solution to a problem. But nothing more, let’s not consider that we are all capable of seeing the future when we sleep.

Guidelines to know if a dream is premonitory

Having clarified this aspect on the character of dreams, I turn to premonitory dreams. Not everyone has premonitory dreams just like not everyone has lucid dreams, for example. To have premonitory dreams it is necessary to reach a high level of consciousness or what some call a high vibration. All this mixed with more esotericism than we would like when we interpret dreams, but that does not mean that it does not exist.

Because in the dream world nothing is what it seems and, above all, reason and logic give way to other aspects of our lives, more spiritual, more energetic, and more emotional. Do you think you have had a premonitory dream? Can be. It can be a premonitory dream if you live it with more intensity than usual if you wake up with palpitations and sweating and the dream envelops you once you wake up. Although this also deam to occur with nightmares and not for that reason they are premonitory.

In general, you will know that you have had a precognitive dream when what occurs seems very real to you but at the same time, you are observing it as from another dimension. In this type of dreams or visions of the future all your senses come into play, that’s why you can be seeing things, but also listening, touching, smelling, or tasting.

Precognitive dreams are sharper than usual dreams, but it is especially when you wake up when you can predict if you are facing a premonition. A racing heart, shortness of breath, and a feeling that you have exceptional knowledge may give you the keys to know if you have just had a vision for the things awaiting.

But I insist. It is not usual to have premonitory dreams nor is it available to everyone. So try to go to bed to rest, enjoying your dreams, and letting yourself be surprised by the future.

I had a premonitory dream. What to do?

First, make sure that this dream has a premonitory dream meaning. Unfortunately, you won’t know for sure until the situation arrives or not. If you dream of an unpleasant event, don’t panic. It may be that this dream is simply a reflection of your fears and has nothing to do with reality! Dreaming of future events that come true over time are not common.

If you are troubled by your dreams, it is best to discuss them with a professional medium. It may unravel the truth from the false and allow you more peaceful nights! You will know if your premonitory dream is one.

Can dreams be warnings?

Nightmares themselves are a tough experience for people dreaming about them. Unfortunately, aggressive behaviors such as screaming and brutal throwing observed in some people’s dreams may be a signal about the occurrence of brain diseases such as Parkinson’s. The results of a study conducted in 2010 prove that the first symptoms of such diseases often manifest themselves even 10 years before its actual development. Unfortunately, having such an unusual form is often underestimated.

Tips for recognizing warning dreams

Whenever you dream about a certain subject, does your mind associate with something specific that may occur and often this situation ends up happening? Here are the basic rules for recognizing warning dreams:

  • Write down everything that comes to mind, your dreams, the images, symbols, words and sensations that come from them or that appear in your mind daily and always upon waking
  • Try to understand the symbols and their meanings, research your understanding, and if you have difficulty look in books or with someone competent.

Path of activating consciousness and remembering dreams:

  1. During the day, saturate your mind with thoughts and ideas about the topics that would be researched when you go to sleep.
  2. Before going to sleep, focus your attention on your subjects while energizing your body with an intense desire to get the answers.
  3. When you wake up, still in your inner silence, do not get up immediately and give yourself time to receive the images and events that appeared during your sleep.
  4. Remind and notice the sensations and feelings provoked in you.
  5. Write down any type of information that comes to you.
  6. Reflect if the events captured can be related to your themes or if they can contain some information related to your current state of life.
  7. Make space and receive the valuable information that came to you.

Use and abuse this powerful tool that we all have. Our dreams are the gateway to infinite learning.

Should we worry about bad omens in dreams?

I have dreamed many times about the death of my loved ones. And the vast majority are still alive today. On the other hand, I predicted several car accidents, which did take place under disturbing circumstances. I anticipated certain events in my life, often very futile, sometimes important. The vast majority of my predictions via my dreams never happened, I wrote them down just in case. Especially in the conditions in which I saw the events, sometimes in another form. But in 100% of the cases, they represented important subjects, which I had to meditate on. And it is in this area that I appreciate their role!

I do not advise you to panic following disturbing dreams: a credible premonitory dream may jump out at you after analysis and verification by the facts. It’s a little frustrating to not be able to confirm them until after the fact, but they would at least have the merit of having made you progress and work on yourself.

Final Thought

Despite scientific explanations, there are many theories about dreams, some speak of ‘divine’ entities that induce the individual to dream of certain future events, others of a special and almost ‘magical’ sense that allows us to establish a dreamlike connection with the future. In any case, it is always useful to write down the dreamed events upon our awakening, even if they will not allow us to know the future, they will help us understand something more about us and our emotions.
