Sleep experts, confirms that bad moods in the morning are not a myth and that its existence is scientifically proven:

Morning bad mood is characterized by a negative state of mind and limited physical and communicational activity. There is often talk of a low tolerance threshold, and the person concerned wants to stay in his or her bubble. Luckily for them and those around them, the symptoms disappear on average two hours after waking up.

During sleep, we cannot control the emotions we feel; therefore, only when we wake up, we can regain control over ourselves. And it doesn’t matter what day of the week it is: whether it’s a Sunday or a Monday, the important thing is our attitude. It is essential to face the first daily activities in a good mood.

Do not forget that our morning mood could determine the trend of the whole day, because it is in the early morning that we determine our predisposition towards the activities we have to carry out. Why do some people have a bad mood in the morning?

bad mood

Morning moodiness is associated with the transient period of drowsiness, which lasts between 5 and 20 minutes after waking up, although, in some people, it may last for some time.

But the truth is that, despite this phase of drowsiness after waking up, there are people who wake up feeling good, happy, and full of desire to face the day. People with a good morning mood are likely to feel rested enough when the alarm goes off or are not looking forward to the workday that awaits them.

So why don’t we all have this ability? Some advanced hypotheses argue that morning moodiness may be associated with tiredness, sleepless nights, or quite simply with personalities with a tendency to a less positive attitude towards the day that begins.

So, although grumpy morning habit is usually just a way to complain about our programmed life, the lack of hours of sleep and pleasurable activities, it is important to be careful when this situation happens due to a constant and persistent inability to see something good in the world. The day ahead, and then we may be facing depression.

1Morning moodiness can affect the whole day.

Those who start their day calmly and happily tend to remain in that frame of mind for the rest of the day. In turn, those who wake up in a bad mood may end the day in an even worse mood.

Some studies put forward the hypothesis that our morning mood interferes with our productivity at a professional level, especially in jobs that involve serving the public. Good-natured people have better productivity rates and have superior customer service.

Tips for waking up in a good mood

The moody morning is a difficult problem to solve, as well as being a factor that can affect us much. However, we can try to deal with it in the best possible way by establishing a routine of good habits.

The alarm clock is a fundamental element.

There is everything: those who tip it two hours before, those who put it under the pillow, those who postpone it every 10 minutes … It is the small routine of the alarm clock, but very often we forget that this object has a very specific function. A good idea so that its use makes sense and stops irritating us by continuously repeating that annoying sound is to place the alarm clock away from the bed, to force us to get up to turn it off.

Blink several times.

If you are one of those people who struggle to open their eyes in the morning, an effective trick is to blink quickly.

Prepare everything before going to sleep.

If you struggle to get up and are in a bad mood having to prepare everything when you are half asleep, the good idea is to leave everything ready before going to bed. So you will avoid running, and you will have fewer thoughts on your head from the moment you wake up.
