Everyone knows this story … Besides, it may have happened to you. You think of someone like that for no reason. The phone is ringing. This person is on the other end of the line! Have you ever felt the urge to give something to someone and that is precisely what the person needed at that moment? Intuition is the ability to understand something immediately, without consciously thinking about it and to be right!

Intuition arises, imposes itself on the mind, without warning. It is part of our natural capabilities, and we are all intuitive. When intuition is particularly effective in someone, we say that this person has a “gift,” that it is a “seer.” This person can understand and feel things that go beyond themselves. They can receive messages from their Guardian Angels. They can feel the Energies at work around a person, with or without a “tool” (Tarot, Oracle…) Intuition and gifts are, in reality, the same thing. When intuition is well exercised, well-controlled, it is so powerful and precise that it becomes what is commonly called “a gift.” So, if we all have intuition and gift, how do we develop them?

    Where does intuition come from?

    intuition

We already know that intuition is a kind of response, more or less sudden, that is not mediated by conscious reasoning. We are confident that something is in a way, or that we must do this or that, but we cannot specify why we know it.

In a way, intuition is an unexpected gift from an anonymous admirer. And who is that fan? Our mind, our heart, the cells of the intestinal tract, as some experts say, the voice of God?

There are two approaches to explain “where” these intuitive thoughts are born. In the scientific view, intuition is a quick mental response resulting from our brain automatically collecting massive amounts of data. We receive daily information that we are not aware of; our brain stores it, and in certain circumstances (danger, alert, etc.), it offers us a quick response that is “the summary” of this processed information.

    sailor

For example, an experienced sailor has an extensive record of experiences that have happened to him at sea. He knows what happens under certain weather conditions; he knows his boat, has observed the currents and the waves for long days, has spoken with other sailors, has read, and has had “scares” from which he has learned … If, at any given moment, someone Asks if a storm is going to break out, this sailor will provide immediate response without deliberately evaluating all the data at his disposal. That is intuition. It is a response that occurs after an internal and unconscious mental processing of many accumulated data, a process that is much faster than traditional analytical reasoning. It is a “natural fast track” in the way the brain works, completely natural.

The other way to see intuition is from an energetic or spiritual perspective. If we accept that we are more than a body-mind, intuition would be the language of our inner guide that is directly connected with God or with the universe. This intuitive voice would invite us to live experiences that are in our destiny and have the final objective of learning or expanding our consciousness.

Contrary to what many people suppose, intuition does not have to go hand in hand with an ability to predict the future. This would be clairvoyance, a different quality. The intuitive person is not the one who knows which team is going to win the game or what is going to be the result of following a specific path, but the one who knows that they have to follow that path. Even if they do not know why and what will be in store for them, he senses that it will be beneficial for his personal development.

Here are 10 tips to unlock your intuition, and the keys to receiving intuitive information from your Guides and the Universe.

The 10 Tips to Unlock Your Intuition

    1. Be relaxed and attentive

To receive messages of your intuition, being sufficiently open and thoughtful is essential. What you are looking for does not always stand out. These messages are discreet and subtle…. it is, therefore, it is essential to be relaxed and receptive to perceiving them.

    2. Do not try to understand “the why of the how”.

To use the intuitive part of your brain well, do not criticize or judge your feelings. This would be the best way to use logic in an area where logic does not apply … and is useless. Worse, it could make you miss certain connections and synchronicities. Live the experience, feel, take note. Quite simply.

    3. Put the puzzle together

Intuition messages come to us in fragments … and most often in the form of symbols, a bit like a rebus. Information here, a symbol there, you will have the impression of having to put together a big puzzle, especially at the beginning. You may wonder if what you notice is a real sign or a coincidence. With a habit, you will quickly make a difference.

    4. Trust yourself

Be certain: Yes! You, too, can receive intuitive messages and have feelings. Trust yourself! This confidence boosts your abilities and increases the power of your intuition. Always say to yourself, “Yes! I can do it!”  Having an open mind and willingness to try is essential. If you doubt your feelings or if you reject your messages, this is the best way to block your intuition.

    5. Open your horizon

Intuitive or guidance messages often come from your surroundings… Words from a loved one, words from a song, something you notice on the street – intuitive responses don’t always come from your inner world. The Universe is constantly sending you signs.

    6. Ask questions

You can call your intuition for help by asking a question. This stimulates your intuitive abilities and puts them “on alert” to resolve the issue that is bothering you. Once the question mentally asked, think no more. Let your day and the days ahead unfold as if nothing had happened. Soon your Guides or the Universe will send you a sign or response.

    7. Request additional information

Sometimes the intuitive clues we receive are not clear … when in doubt, don’t hesitate to ask the Universe or your Guides for more information. You will no doubt, be clarified.

    8. Let go!

Tightening up on an expected response is the best way to block the channel and not receive it. Most of the time, the answers are not immediate. We must then learn to mentally let go of the affair, to stop thinking about it – at least consciously. The intuitive answer will arrive unexpectedly when you least expect it. That is to say at exactly the right time.

    9. Use the right tools

As a good craftsman, the Intuitive has tools to help his brain to “open up” its intuitive capacities. Our Ego is “100% counter-intuitive”. So, to get out of the Ego, it is recommended to use tools that the intuitive part of your brain can use, tools that allow you to “play” with your intuition and to tame it.

    10. Ask yourself, “Where are the toilets?”

This is the most important key to intuition! It’s not really about where the restroom is, of course. Rather, it is your state of mind when you ask this question. Imagine yourself in a museum and … you have to go to the bathroom. You don’t know where they are, so ask the museum guide. You are impatiently awaiting the answer – because you have to go! – and at the same time, you know very well that the guide will give you the answer and even explain to you how to get there. It is exactly this mixture of impatience and confidence that you must cultivate in intuitive work. Have a great desire to receive intuitive messages to decode them… and to know that these will be delivered to you by your Guides and by the Universe at the right time!

The more you train to perceive intuitive signs and messages, the more you will be confident to recognize and interpret them. Integrate these ten tips into your intuitive work… and you will see your intuition and your feelings quickly strengthen!

3 ways to identify a real intuition

Have you ever had powerful feelings for that life goes on, and you see that it is “just the opposite that happens”? This misadventure happened to Christine, who shared with me her frustration: “I am very disappointed with my intuition,” she wrote to me, which of course, resonated very strongly in me. Being disappointed with your biggest ally is a real blow!

Can my intuition be wrong? Does she play tricks on me? What I feel is an intuition … or something else?

First, let’s be forgiving with ourselves, and with our intuition. ? I do not know why, but we are still waiting for much more precision and help from our intuition than from our “rational brain” and its logical reasoning. However, our logical brain sometimes fails us: errors of reasoning are common. But, we expect our intuition to be available all the time to provide us with perfect information. It’s setting the bar very high – too high – and going straight to disappointment and frustration.

Our intuition is neither perfect nor infallible. But it is possible to learn to recognize it when it manifests and to exercise it like a muscle. The intuitions can take very different forms: feelings in the heart or the belly, “flash” of an image or a sound, felt … These manifestations are not always recognizable as such by our consciousness because we are not used to identifying them and even less welcoming them.

Here are the three ways to identify a real intuition:

    1. Intuition is not the reflection of a desire

The difference between intuition and a desire is essential to know if we listen to our source of intimate wisdom … or if our brain is rocked by a sweet illusion. I am sure you know the expression “Take your desires for reality”: that is exactly what we are talking about here.

Example: I want Marc to call me so we can go out this week… I have the intuition that he will do it. Yes, for sure, he will call me!

When we very much wish that something is true or that an event occurs, we use this desire as a justification, as a “proof” that the thing in question will come true. It is, therefore, not a real intuition but rather a “secret hope.” This “secret hope” puts you in a passive position. You wait for your wish to come true as if by magic, and you are not an actor in its realization. Intuition makes you want to act and tells you how to do it!

How to tell the difference between desire and intuition?

It takes a little practice to tell the difference between desire and intuition, but it is entirely possible. Desire and intuition are similar because they are both accompanied by a pleasant feeling, by the feeling that things are “right,” that everything is “in its place.” The difference between intuition and desire is, therefore, subtle.

By listening carefully to your inner messages, you will notice that when desire speaks, it is often accompanied by a need for affection. When the desire is expressed rather than intuition, the focus is on you, on the image you send to others, and how others will perceive you. When the real intuition is expressed, it is accompanied by a feeling of detachment. You tell yourself that the result would indeed be pleasant – without feeling “suspended” to its imperative realization.

    2. Intuition is not a projection.

The projection is the second “trap” in which the Intuitive can fall … but it is not inevitable either! Projection is the attribution to someone else of their feelings, doubts, or anxieties.

Example: At the end of six months of a romantic relationship, Marc has the intuition that Marie will leave him. Since he does not want his relationship to end, he hangs on, becomes “sticky.” Marie notices this change in attitude and begins to wonder if Marc is a good choice for her. However, for Marie, everything was going so well! Marc projected onto Marie his anxieties because he was left by an ex-girlfriend after six months of a relationship.

How to tell the difference between projection and intuition?

Making the difference between projection and intuition quite easy: you have to be attentive to your emotions and bodily sensations. Indeed, the projection is accompanied by negative emotions: anxiety, fear, worry. If your heart “closes,” if your hands are agitated, if your thoughts start to scroll rapidly or to loop in a loop, it is probably a projection rather than a real intuition.

When intuition is expressed, what we feel in the body is quite different. You feel both relaxed and “content.” You do not feel anxious, and you do not doubt the veracity of your intimate perception.

    3. Intuition is “centered.”

We know that intuition is neither taking one’s desires for reality nor projecting one’s painful feelings onto a situation. Now let’s try to describe what intuition is and how to invite it to manifest.

The Intuitives describe intuition as a feeling really “apart” which is characterized by a feeling of openness, of relaxation; the idea of feeling “out of place” in the world while being connected to something bigger than yourself, more important. Intuition is obvious: with it, “we know” and “we know we know.” Intuition can be accompanied by motivating feelings like enthusiasm and inspiration – or by inner calm and relaxation. This is called being “centered.” This posture invites and incites intuition to manifest itself.

How to be “centered” and invite your intuition to manifest?

Most of us have already felt this “centered” posture without even having done it on purpose! For example, during a walk in the forest, seeing the sea or the mountains: it is the presence of Nature that calms and produces this effect. For others, it’s music. For others, it is spending time with a loved one that helps restore inner balance and peace. Meditation, of course, is a practice of choice to focus on because it teaches us to observe ourselves “from the outside” and to differentiate between our “authentic self” and its productions: thoughts and emotions.

To center, oneself is quite simply to give oneself the capacity to detach oneself for a moment from our immediate emotional responses, projections, and “sweet illusions.” It is accessing a state of inner calm that allows intuition, the true one, to manifest itself.

Intuition is not without rationality; as we see, it has its logic. For neuroscience, it is, in other words, the processing and association of sensory information captured by our brain without us being aware of it. Our intuition highlights the conclusion of this process.

Constantly in research, our brain registers the slightest change in the environment on a sensory level, with a view to possible adaptation. This is why many neuroscientists call intuition “unconscious adaptation.”

From modern psychology, intuition is described as a superficial scanning process, i.e., through which we understand what is happening in a given situation in the blink of an eye. On the other hand, at every new encounter, in unusual situations or when we have to catch something instantly, we resort to this “flash” analysis, a real scanner. We know without being able to explain it!

6 keys to recognize an authentic intuition (and not to confuse it with the habitual thought)

    1. The message received by intuition is not supported by an argument. The farther from the usual thought the idea that has crossed your mind seems, the more likely it is to come from the true wisdom within you.

    2. The voice of intuition is soft and does not press. If what you think is intuition makes you feel an urge to do it, it probably comes from another source (perhaps fear).

    3. Authentic intuition has a light quality, like dreams. Sometimes it only happens for a second, and then it is difficult to experience it again with the same intensity. When you catch something like that, write it down, so you don’t forget it.

    4. The body endorses the authentically intuitive response. If upon receiving the idea or impulse, your body feels good, then go ahead. Pay attention, above all, to what you feel in the abdomen. The wisdom of the body is immensely more impeccable than that of the mind.

    5. Intuition is fleeting but persistent. Ideas based on mandates or mental parasites are often contradictory and vary from day to day. Intuition, on the other hand, although in a more subtle voice, does not change throughout the days. Check back with your internal teacher as many times as you need, and he will always tell you the same.

    6. An intuitive message will always become an immediate creative expression. Can you sing the intuitive idea you received? Could you dance or draw it with ease and beauty? So, indeed, it is a real message and let you be guided by it.
